• Critical Material Handling: The items are crucial for shipboard aircraft launch/recovery systems; incorrect or defective material poses a high risk of failure, injury, or loss.
• Repair Procedures: Contractors must provide repair procedures to NAWCADLKE engineering for approval prior to commencing repairs.
• Certification & Inspection: ALRE CSI parts require certification, including the application of a Material Identification Code (MIC) by NAWCADLKE QA. Interim inspections at the contractor's location are required for overhauled and newly manufactured parts. Receipt inspection and certification are required for specific sub-components and the top assembly (P/N 6532E900-19).
• Contractor Assistance: Contractors must provide facilities, equipment, and personnel to assist NAWCADLKE inspectors during interim and final inspections.

Quality Assurance

Quality assurance is stringent due to the critical nature of the material:

• NAWCADLKE Surveillance: Representatives have the option to conduct QA surveillance for the first lot and subsequent lots, and during in-process inspections. Contractors must provide 14 days' notice for final inspection and 7-10 days' notice for interim inspections.
• Inspection Levels: 100% inspection for critical characteristics and attributes (plating, hardness, NDT). AQL of 1.5 for Class 3 Threads and geometric controls with tight tolerances, and AQL of 4.0 for minor characteristics.
• NDT Requirements: Companies performing Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) must be NADCAP accredited or ISO 17025 accredited by specified organizations.
• Mandatory Inspections: 100% Procurement Contracting Officer (PCO) mandatory inspection at source, under DCMAO QAR surveillance. Critical manufacturing processes (Heat Treat, Welding, Plating, Casting, Forging, MPR) are identified.
• Record Keeping: All records pertaining to ALRE CSI/CAI manufacture and inspection/test must be provided to the ALRE Cognizant Technical Authority and maintained by LKE QA and the manufacturer for seven years.
