• Testing & Quality Assurance: Extensive testing requirements including Non-Destructive Tests, Hydrostatic Pressure Test, Ultrasonic Inspection, Dye Penetrant Inspection, Annealing and Age Hardening. Specific laboratories are mandated for Slow Strain Rate Tensile Tests.
• Manufacturing Processes: Detailed specifications for welding/brazing (no repair welding on QQ-N-286 material), internal thread formation (cutting only), thread inspection (FED-STD-H28 series), and approved thread lubricants (A-A-59004).
• Configuration Control: Procedures for Waivers/Deviations and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) are outlined.
• Traceability & Certifications: Rigorous traceability requirements for all materials, especially Level I/SUBSAFE components, with detailed certification data (DI-MISC-81020, DI-MISC-80678) and marking specifications (MIL-STD-792). Mercury-free materials are required.

• Government Inspection: Government Quality Assurance at source is required, with notification to DCMA.
• Certification Submission: Certification data must be submitted to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard via Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF) using specific "Ship to," "Inspect by," and "Accept by" codes (N50286, N39040, N39040 respectively) and email notification to PORT_PTNH_WAWF_Notification@navy.mil. No material is to be shipped prior to acceptance.
