Quick Summary

The Department of the Navy, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Mech, has awarded a contract for the repair/modification of 23 ANTENNA GROUP units. This award, valued at $2,001,000.00, was made to VERTEX MODERNIZATION & SUSTAINMENT 96JA0 on a sole-source basis.

Scope of Work

This contract covers the acquisition of 23 units of the ANTENNA GROUP, identified by NSN 5985 015092513 and P/N G167737-2. The estimated unit price is $87,000.00.

Contract & Timeline

  • Type: Award Notice (Sole Source)
  • Awardee: VERTEX MODERNIZATION & SUSTAINMENT 96JA0 (Cage Code 78062)
  • Value: $2,001,000.00
  • Period of Performance: Expected Final Delivery Date 10/11/2027
  • Set-Aside: None (Sole Source Justification)
  • Published: May 5, 2026

Justification for Other Than Full & Open Competition

This acquisition was justified under 10 USC 3204(A)(1) (implemented by FAR 6.302-1) due to the sole-source nature of the requirement. VERTEX MODERNIZATION & SUSTAINMENT 96JA0 is the actual manufacturer and possesses unique expertise and knowledge for the repair. The government does not own the necessary data or rights for repair from other sources, and acquiring these rights was deemed uneconomical.

Efforts to Solicit Offers

A Class Waiver was applied on March 15, 2019. The proposed contract action was synopsized on the government-wide point of entry on June 18, 2025, but no interest was received from industry. Market research confirmed VERTEX as the only known approved manufacturing source, with no distributors or substitutes identified. The contracting officer determined the anticipated cost to be fair and reasonable.

Barriers to Future Competition

NAVSUP WSS currently has no plans to compete future contracts for this item due to the outlined reasons. Future requirements will be assessed for competition feasibility if another potential manufacturing source emerges.
