Scope of Work
The required X-ray fluorescence core scanner must meet the following salient characteristics:
- Capable of analyzing both marine sediment and mineral cores.
- Ability to analyze both wet and dry cores.
- Ability to analyze elements from magnesium through uranium or better with high precision and sensitivity.
- Ability to analyze samples up to 1.5 m in length at 1 mm resolution or better.
- Appropriate safety shielding for x-rays.
- Energy resolution of 3% or better.
- Equipped with an RGB camera for images paired to the XRF scan at 50 micrometers resolution or better.
- Supplied with an appropriate X-ray tube, reliable lifetime, power supply, and shielding.
- Supplied with a means of holding samples and NIST certified reference material.
- Supplied with software for data collection and analysis, including spectral deconvolution.
- Includes a one-year standard warranty, product installation, and user training.
