Quick Summary

The Department of the Air Force is issuing a Sources Sought/Request for Information (RFI) for A5/7 Affordable Mass Munitions (AMM). This initiative seeks industry capabilities for lower-cost, mass-producible, long-range precision strike systems, developed in coordination with allies, to support high-intensity operations and the 2026 National Defense Strategy. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. Responses are due by June 20, 2026, 3:00 PM EDT.

Purpose & Scope

This RFI, issued by the Air Force Modernization Office (HAF/A5/7), aims to understand industry's ability to produce "International Affordable Mass Munitions," encompassing guided missiles, missile warheads, and complete missile systems (NAICS 336415, 336419). The goal is to facilitate a strategic shift towards a mix of lower-cost, mass-producible, long-range precision strike systems.

Key Areas of Interest

Respondents are requested to provide insights on:

  • Production at Scale: Achieving production of 1,000+ units per year and associated costs.
  • Allied Production & Open Architecture: Producing systems in coordination with allies using open architectures (e.g., WOSA, GRA).
  • Contested Logistics Sustainment: Maintaining manufacturing operations in contested environments, both domestically and overseas.
  • Specialized Capabilities: Detailed questions are provided for Propulsion, Digital Manufacturing, Autonomy, Loitering Munition, International, and ERAM/FAMM-Related vendors, covering technical performance, cost, production, ITAR status, and WOSA/GRA compliance.

Submission Requirements

Responses should address two questionnaires: one on system production, cost, technical performance, and exportability, and another specific to the respondent's industrial sector(s). An RFI engagement form (Tab 1) is provided to gather detailed information on production capacity, cost data, schedule, technical performance, manufacturing approach, WOSA/GRA compliance, international cooperation, mobility, and contested logistics. Responses can cover All-Up-Rounds, assemblies, and/or components.

Impact & Timeline

The information gathered will directly inform future requirements and the industry engagement strategy leading up to the AFA Air, Space, & Cyber Conference. This notice is for planning purposes only and does not guarantee a future solicitation.
