The primary mission is to digitize these irreplaceable assets to the highest archival standards, ensuring long-term preservation and providing high-quality digital access for researchers, historians, and future generations.
Key Requirements
The desired system must be a complete, turnkey solution, including the main scanning unit, a pre-configured host computer, all necessary software and licenses, and accessories. Specific technical requirements include:
- Film Transport: Continuous-motion, sprocket-less with optical management, automatic detection and recovery from broken splices.
- Resolution: Minimum native resolution of 6.5K.
- Image Capture: Simultaneous capture of High Dynamic Range (HDR) images (minimum 16-bit color depth) and optical/magnetic soundtracks.
- Processing: Internal hardware for critical image processing (resizing, color correction, scaling).
- Stability: Optical method for frame-to-frame image stability.
- Formats: Capability to scan standard 8mm, Super 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm film formats.
- Software: Complete software suite for unattended scanning, supporting uncompressed DPX sequences, Apple ProRes (4444, 422 HQ), and WAV/BWF audio files.
- Condition: Items must be brand new; refurbished items are not authorized.
- Services: Delivery, on-site installation, and a minimum of two consecutive days of comprehensive on-site training for up to four government personnel.
- Warranty: Minimum one-year OEM standard commercial warranty.
