Quick Summary
The Department of the Navy, NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Mech, is soliciting proposals for the manufacture of an AFTERBODY TRIM POD. This is a critical component for crucial shipboard systems, designated as "SPECIAL EMPHASIS material," requiring stringent quality and traceability controls. The original small business set-aside has been dissolved by amendment. Proposals are due by May 8, 2026.
Scope of Work
Contractors will be responsible for manufacturing the AFTERBODY TRIM POD in accordance with NAVSEA drawing 8436725 Find No. 18, Part No. 8436725-5, and other specified requirements. The material's critical nature necessitates adherence to detailed quality assurance, inspection, and traceability protocols throughout the production process.
Key Requirements
- Quality System: Contractors must maintain a quality system compliant with ISO-9001 (amplified herein) and calibration systems per ISO-10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025. An alternate system per MIL-I-45208 with MIL-STD-45662 is acceptable.
- Traceability & Certification: Strict material traceability (Level I/SUBSAFE systems) is required, including unique marking, chemical/mechanical analysis, and re-certification if material properties are altered. All certification data must be positive and unqualified.
- Inspection: Government Quality Assurance (GQA) will be performed at the source. Receiving and final inspections require 100% verification of traceability markings and certification reports. Lot acceptance is based on zero defects.
- Configuration Control: Contractors must maintain total equipment baseline configuration and submit Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for Class I or II changes. Waivers/Deviations require PCO review and approval.
- Delivery: Submission of certification data CDRLs 20 days prior to delivery, PNSY review 18 working days, and final material delivery within 186 days.
- Mercury Free: Materials must be free of mercury and mercury-containing compounds.
