Quick Summary
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), specifically the Central Federal Lands Division, is conducting a Sources Sought for the AZ NP GRCA 14(2) Roadway Improvements project. This is not a request for bid but market research to identify qualified small businesses (including 8(a), HUBZone, WOSB, and SDVOSB) interested in submitting a bid, to determine if a set-aside is appropriate. The estimated project value is between $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Responses are due by May 22, 2026, at 2 p.m. local Denver time.
Scope of Work
This project involves multi-modal safety and pavement improvements across 12.7 miles of the North Rim Road and Scenic Routes within the Grand Canyon National Park. The work aims to restore infrastructure damaged by fire and age, focusing on:
- Pavement Preservation: Structural patching and thin overlays.
- Roadside Safety: Replacing fire-damaged guardrails, installing new signage, and corridor-wide re-striping.
- Winter Readiness: Installing snow poles and culvert delineators.
- Infrastructure: Upgrading the entrance gate and performing localized drainage and ditch repairs.
Key work items include ditch excavation, placed riprap, roadway concrete pavement, asphalt concrete pavement patching (Types 1, 2, 3), pipe culverts, guardrail systems, terminal sections, road closure gates, and various pavement markings.
