Quick Summary
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) – Portland District has issued a Sources Sought synopsis (market survey) for the Columbia River Pile Dike King Pile Markers project. This is not a Request for Proposal (RFP) but aims to identify interested parties, assess socioeconomic status availability, and evaluate contractor capabilities and qualifications for future acquisition decisions. Responses are due by June 18, 2026.
Scope of Work
The project involves driving approximately 45 steel piles at various locations along the Columbia River, between River Mile 30 and 120. These tall piles will mark the ends of frequently submerged pile dikes to enhance visibility for boaters. Key tasks include:
- Installing steel piles, anticipated to be 18 to 24 inches in diameter.
- Providing 20 to 25 cubic yards of rock scour protection at each pile location using controlled dumping methods.
- Fabricating and installing signage atop each pile.
The in-water work window is October 1, 2027, to November 30, 2027. Vibratory hammer pile driving is permitted in October and November, while impact hammer use is limited to November only.
