Fit reasons
  • NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
  • Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks

Quick Summary

Fermi Forward Discovery Group LLC (FFDG), a DOE contractor for Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab), has issued a Solicitation for a Cryogenic Microbulk 3000-Liter Liquid Argon Dewar and associated connector assembly. This is a Firm Fixed-Price procurement. Proposals will be evaluated on a Low Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) basis, with an intent to award without discussions. Proposals are due by May 8, 2026, at 4:00 PM CT.

Scope of Work

FFDG seeks a subcontractor to provide:

  • One (1) Cryogenic microbulk ASME industrial 3000-liter liquid argon Dewar.
  • One (1) Connector assembly, argon tongue flange, 1.5", with dust cap and copper fill gasket. The Dewar must meet detailed technical specifications for cryogenic microbulk ASME industrial liquid argon service with vaporizers, designed for outdoor use at Fermilab, Batavia, IL.

Key Technical Requirements

The 3,000-liter Dewar must be suitable for liquid argon, with a maximum footprint of 83" x 70", rated to or greater than 250 psig (preferably 500 psig), and operate between 100-200 psig (normal 160 psig). It requires ASME BPVC Section VIII compliant safety devices (dual relief circuit), VCR preferred interfaces for LAr/GAr withdrawal, and instrumentation for level/pressure (4-20 mA or 0-10 VDC) with telemetry plumbing. Documentation including process flow, compliance, 3D model, and performance data is required. It must include pressure building and gas use vaporizers.
