• Pressure wash the walls and ceiling of the Barry-Baker Tunnel using hot water (no cleaning agents or solvents).

• Use waddles and silt protection at drain inlets to prevent sediment and debris.

• Inspect and clean weep holes and wire mesh for clogging to ensure free seepage flow.

• Implement traffic control measures as per Public Traffic Management and Drawings/Maps.

Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

This Statement of Work outlines the requirements for a deep clean of the Baker-Barry Tunnel located in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Sausalito, California.

• Pressure Washing: Clean tunnel walls and ceiling (~43,000 sq. ft.) using hot water (180-200°F), avoiding direct spray on lights and electrical conduit. No cleaning agents or solvents are permitted. Silt protection is required at drain inlets.

• Mineral Deposit Removal: Remove heavy mineral deposits from walls, weep holes, and roadways using scraping or wire brush implements. Gutters are to be cleaned of debris.

• Weep Hole Maintenance: Inspect and clean approximately 130 weep holes and wire mesh. Replacement of wire mesh may be necessary for up to 20% of the weep holes.

• Traffic Control: Implement measures to allow westbound traffic through the tunnel while safely managing working equipment. Eastbound traffic will be detoured.

• Graffiti Removal: Remove all graffiti within the tunnel using a biodegradable liquid gel graffiti remover compatible with hot water and high-pressure spray.

• Location: Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Marin County, Marin Headlands - Bunker Road, Sausalito, California.

• Work Hours: Tunnel cleaning operations are to be conducted between 10 pm and 6 am. Public traffic will be allowed normal use outside these hours. Special work hours may occur for up to five consecutive calendar days.

• Contractor Use of Site: Confined to designated work areas; materials and equipment to be stored within the work area. Staging area is the parking lot adjacent to the East Entrance.

• Protection of Historic and Natural Features: Strict adherence to plans and immediate notification of deviations. Prevent damage to historic features, cultural landscapes, and natural surroundings. Temporary barriers for trees and plants are required.

• Utilities: Water for high-pressure washing will be provided by NPS. Contractor is responsible for preventing damage to existing utilities.

• Safety: Contractor must develop and implement a Site Specific Safety and Health Plan (SSSHP).

• Submittals: Required submittals include Project Superintendent designation, Service Work Schedule, SSSHP, and Traffic Control Plan, due at least 3 weeks prior to work commencement.

• Environmental: Adherence to federal, state, and local regulations for hazardous waste, solid waste, and unauthorized discharges. Housekeeping and site management are critical.
