Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force is issuing a Presolicitation for ET Metal Powder Sieving Vacuums to support the 76 CMXG REACT facility in S Coffeyville, OK. This requirement is for three (3) specialized powder reclamation systems designed to interface with GE Concept Laser M2 Series 5 3D printers. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside. Responses are due May 21, 2026.
Purpose and Scope
The Air Force intends to procure three standalone powder reclamation systems to remove, collect, and sieve hazardous and reactive metal powders (Nickel, Cobalt Chrome, Aluminum) generated by GE Concept Laser M2 Series 5 printers. These systems will be positioned adjacent to the M2 glove box, interfacing with the printer’s vacuum port and overflow hopper outlet. The goal is to automatically extract, transfer, sieve, and reclaim powders under an inert gas atmosphere, addressing the specific need for integrated vacuum conveying within a sealed, inert gas architecture for reactive additive manufacturing powders.
Key Requirements
- Quantity: One (1) ATEX-compliant system and two (2) standard systems.
- Compatibility: Must interface with GE Concept Laser M2 Series 5 printers.
- Powder Handling: Capable of processing Nickel, Cobalt Chrome, and Aluminum alloys, with interchangeable sieve sets (75-micron for Ni/Al, 63-micron for CoCr).
- Safety: Sieving must occur under an inert gas atmosphere. The aluminum processing system must be explosion-proof and ATEX Zone 20 compliant (or equivalent). All systems require CE or UL certification.
- Functionality: Automated powder extraction, transfer to buffer hopper, controlled dispensing onto sieves, dual agitation (ultrasonic/vibratory), ultrasonic knocker to prevent bridging, and integrated scales for waste/reclaimed powder.
- Experience: Manufacturer must demonstrate a minimum of five (5) years’ experience with comparable powder handling and sieving systems and provide redacted customer references from the past 12 months.
