This part requires engineering source approval by the design control activity. Qualified sources must possess unique design capability, engineering skills, and manufacturing knowledge. Alternate sources must qualify in accordance with the design control activity's procedures, approved by the cognizant Government engineering activity. Award will be made only if the offeror, product/service, or manufacturer meets qualification requirements at the time of award per FAR clause 52.209-1.
