FXI and ISR Mirror Bender Upgrade Package

Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

This SOW outlines the Contractor's responsibilities for procuring, designing, engineering, manufacturing, assembling, installing, and testing mirror bender systems for the FXI and ISR beamlines at the National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II).

• FXI Beamline: One (1) Collimating Mirror (CM) Bender System and one (1) Toroidal Mirror (TM) Bender System.

• ISR Beamline: One (1) Horizontal Focusing Mirror (HFM) Bender and one (1) Vertical Focusing Mirror (VFM) Bender, including in-vacuum, double piping, and metal cooling lines.

• Provision of cables in ultra-high-vacuum and high X-ray radiation environments.

• The scope excludes mirror substrates, mirror tanks, and standard NSLS-II motion controllers.

• The contractor shall replace existing piezo-based bender systems with new stepper-motor controlled systems.

• All equipment must comply with U.S. standards, NFPA70, and be certified by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).

• Process piping must use ASME B31.3 or equivalent.

• Vacuum components must comply with BSA document LT-ENG-RSI-SR-VA-002 and be UHV-conditioned.

• Specific performance requirements for mirror temperature, vibrational stability, bend radius range, actuator resolution, and repeatability are detailed for each bender type.

• A two (2) year warranty against failure and defects is required.

• Design, manufacture, and initial testing at the Contractor's facility.

• Final installation and testing at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL).

• Contractor must provide a final design review (FDR) report and hold a review meeting.

• A Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) must be provided prior to work commencement.

• Contractor is responsible for providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Quality Assurance requirements as set forth in BSA Form BNL-QA-101 must be followed.

• One spare motor and one spare encoder/readout of each type must be provided.

• No after-hours or weekend work without prior approval.

• Final design review report: 8 weeks after contract award.

• Equipment delivery: 32 weeks after contract award.

• Installation and testing: 38 weeks after contract award.

• End item documentation package: With equipment delivery.

Solicitation / RFP / RFQ

This is a pre-solicitation notice (synopsis) for Solicitation Number 475273, titled "FXI and ISR Mirror Bender Upgrade Package."
