Quick Summary

The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is seeking quotations for a Greenhouse Roof Replacement and Rail Replacement project at the USDA Sugarcane Research Site in Schriever, LA. This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set-Aside and will result in a Firm Fixed-Price award. Proposals are due by April 29, 2026, at 0630 AM CST.

Scope of Work

This project involves two distinct phases:

  • Greenhouse Roof Replacement (Scope A): Replacement of existing 16mm double-skinned acrylic roof panels with new impact-modified acrylic panels, including removal of old panels, cleaning frames, replacement of vent panels, and repair of vent drive rods. The new roof must be water-tight, meeting DIN 5063 and ASTM D-635 standards, and comes with a one-year leak-free warranty. This phase is considered an emergency repair and should be completed as soon as possible.
  • Photoperiod Rail Replacement (Scope B): Removal and replacement of steel rails and fasteners for twelve sugarcane carts. This involves saw-cutting, grinding, concrete preparation, installation of continuous Fiberglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP) extrusions and troughs, and filling with 9000 PSI non-shrink epoxy grout. The contractor is responsible for providing FRP extrusions, adhesive, and epoxy grout. This phase must be completed during the winter months (December 2026 - March 2027) to accommodate research schedules.
