Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force, Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is conducting market research through a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) for Intelligent Services Architecture for Point Defense. This RFI seeks information on architectural frameworks and advanced software solutions to develop autonomous and adaptable Point Defense kill chain capabilities against swarm and complex Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) threats. This is for market research only and does not constitute a solicitation. Responses are due May 13, 2026, by 4:00 PM EST.
Scope of Interest
AFRL is seeking information in two primary areas:
- Government Reference Architectures (GRA) for Point Defense: This includes analysis of multimodal sensing, weapon-threat pairing, and general kill chain automation. Respondents should detail past experience, lessons learned, utilization of standards, and identified limitations with current GRAs.
- Intelligent Services, Autonomy, and AI Agents: This focuses on autonomy, analysis, decision support, resource management, and intelligent employment of effects. Respondents should demonstrate capabilities in automated decision and resource management, automated and intelligent employment of effects, integration with specific data models, and provide architectural recommendations.
Submission Details
- Content: Responses must be specific, address all technical areas, and include tangible, existing capabilities or previously/actively funded development efforts. Marketing 'fluff' or theoretical concepts will not be considered.
- Funding Status: Respondents must categorize the funding status of their development efforts (fully funded, partially funded, not funded).
- Page Limit: Submissions are limited to 10 pages or less.
- Due Date: May 13, 2026, by 4:00 PM EST.
- Submission Method: Responses should be submitted via email to Jacqueline Gomez, CCing Matthew Zawisza and Martin Ofalt.
- Classified Responses: Classified responses are welcome via SIPRNet and JWICS.
Eligibility & Notes
- Participation: Broad industry participation is encouraged, including U.S. and non-U.S. firms.
- SAM Registration: Prospective contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database to be awarded a Department of Defense contract (not required for RFI response).
- Future Investment: The government is seeking knowledge on how best to utilize investment and does not expect to spend more than $50-100M for the operational challenge.
- Updates: This notice may be updated; check SAM.gov for the latest information.
