Quick Summary
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, is issuing an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for a FY2027 Pay-As-Cut Timber Contract at Fort Polk, Louisiana. This opportunity involves the purchase and removal of Government-owned pine timber across two distinct items. Bids are due by August 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM Local Time.
Scope of Work
This contract covers the sale of standing pine pulpwood, divided into two items:
- Item 1: Approximately 557 acres of loblolly pine in the Cold Springs Training Area (Compartments 63-80), with an estimated volume of 18,728 tons. Timber will be thinned by removing every fifth row and thinning between rows to achieve a basal area of 80-100 (target 90). Stands are marked with purple paint.
- Item 2: Approximately 1,230 acres of loblolly pine in the Kurthwood/Simpson Training Areas (Compartments 82-96), with an estimated volume of 57,612 tons. The thinning method is identical to Item 1. Stands are marked with purple paint.
Harvesting operations must be completed by September 30, 2027, and are subject to military training schedules. Environmental considerations include avoiding marked sensitive and cultural sites, proper slash disposal, and maintaining specific buffer zones around intermittent (35-foot) and perennial streams (50-foot or 100-foot).
