Fiber optic cables must be properly terminated, protected, and sealed.
  • Telecommunication Racks: Installation of wall-mounted, lockable telecommunication racks in both buildings to serve as network distribution hubs.
  • Cabling: Furnishing and installing outdoor-rated, waterproof, UV resistant, shielded Cat 6 Ethernet cabling from the racks to workstations.

Special Requirements

All work must comply with National Electric Code (NEC), OSHA, ANSI/TIA/EIA, California Building Code, and other PWHO policies. Fiber optic testing (continuity, Power Meter, OTDR) with specified maximum loss limits is mandatory. The contractor must provide proof of current certification, ensure design and installation are overseen by a design engineer, and adhere to ANSI/TIA/EIA standards. Cooperation with Pacific Islands Network IT and Kalaupapa employees, adherence to access constraints, and protection of property are critical. NEPA and NHPA Section 106 compliance mitigation requirements must be followed, including review for landscape issues and cessation of work if archaeological resources are discovered. Required submittals include connectivity testing records, georeferenced as-built drawings, and port mapping plans.
