• Material: Fermilab prefers lightweight materials. The platform should be strictly indoors, with no chemicals or salt exposure. Aluminum frames with composite grating are acceptable if they meet load requirements for four people.
• Assembly: Platforms can be delivered in smaller assemblies for final assembly at Fermilab.
• Coating: Painted safety yellow is required. Aluminum is preferred and cannot be galvanized. While coating is not strictly required, powder coating in safety yellow is advantageous.
• Anchoring: The platform is intended to be anchored to the ground, with base plates and four holes for Hilti Kwik Bolt TZ2 Wedge 1/2" ground anchors.
• Access: Safety swing gates will be required at each end. Fermilab will provide ladders, bolted to other structures.
• Railings: Railing height should be 42" above the walk surface, not 40" as stated in the drawing. This is acceptable if the total structure height is no more than 144".
• Gates: Gates need to be spring loaded.

Solicitation / RFP / RFQ

This solicitation is a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the procurement of two (2) LBNF Horn Test Stand Working Platforms for Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab). Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC (FFDG) is issuing this RFP.

• Two (2) LBNF Horn Test Stand Working Platforms.

• Platforms must incorporate requirements found on page three (3) of the RFP document.

• Platform requirements include:

  • Weight Capacity: 4 working technicians (approx. 1000 lbs).
  • Two safety gates that open inward.
  • Specifications allowed: AISC Manual of Steel Construction, Metal Bar Grating Manual or Composite Grating.
  • OSHA requirements for working platforms, including a 42" high Guard Rail.
  • Dimensional requirements are a maximum envelope: 33-in max width, 204-in max length, 40-in max height for the platform surface, and 104-in max height overall.

• This is a firm-fixed price proposal request.

• The contract will be subject to FFDG General Terms and Conditions for Commercial Products and Commercial Services (08.2025).

• Materials, supplies, or services are for work done under Prime Contract NO. 89243024CSC000002 with the U.S. Department of Energy.

• Proposals are due by 5pm CDT on April 9, 2026.

• Award will be made to the responsible supplier who offers the best value (lowest price of technically acceptable offerors).

• FFDG intends to award without discussions.

• The RFP response must include a completed RFP page, SARC Form, and a PUR-466 Form.

• Offers must include F.O.B. Fermilab delivery terms and all freight charges.
