The comprehensive repair effort on the USS RUSHMORE (LSD-47) includes:

  • Nonskid Deck Covering and Deck Plate Replacement: On the 06 Level Weather Deck, specifically within Frames 30-59, Starboard, and other designated areas. This involves visual inspection, UT thickness readings, fabrication from ASTM A36 mild steel, welding, and testing for watertight integrity.
  • Deck Coaming Repair: On the 06 Level Weather Deck, including replacement of two deck coamings and one brace of a MISC portable davit socket, fabricated from ASTM A36 mild steel. Welding, NDT inspection, and local air hose tests are required.
  • SRBOC MK5 MOD4 Ready Service Locker Repair: Repair of the "knife edge" and gasket for two Ready Service Lockers (NO.2 and NO.3) on the 06 Level. Tasks include chalk testing, grinding, welding, smoothing, and installing new MIL-R-900 rubber gaskets.
  • Fan Room Deck Preservation: Preservation of approximately 80 SF of deck surface in the Fan Room (06-37-2-0) due to corrosion. This involves testing drains, removing and installing new pipe supports, and cleaning/preservation to SSPC-SP-11, SSPC-SP-3, and SSPC-SP-2 standards.

All tasks require cleaning and preservation of new and disturbed surfaces to match surrounding areas. Government Furnished Material (GFM) will be provided for various components.
