Scope of Work
This requirement involves comprehensive repairs to the main engine exhaust systems for both the port and starboard engines of the NOAA Ship Rainier. Key tasks include:
- Replacing port and starboard main engine exhaust expansion joint gaskets and insulation.
- Fabricating and installing new exhaust blankets (ASTM F683 or equivalent fire blanket with stainless steel wire & hooks) for both engines.
- Providing all necessary labor and materials.
- Coordinating access to the NOAA Marine Center Pacific Islands at Pearl Harbor Naval Base.
- Providing insulation manufacturer's product data sheets to the Port Engineer.
- Ensuring contractor employees maintain high standards of conduct regarding sexual assault and harassment.
Specific tasks for each engine involve installing scaffolding, disconnecting/reconnecting flanges, removing old gaskets, inspecting sealing surfaces, and installing new 14" nominal pipe size gaskets. For the starboard engine, new exhaust blankets are needed from the 90° elbow on top of the engine to the 90° elbow on the outlet side of the expansion joint.
