Quick Summary
The National Park Service (NPS), Department of the Interior, is soliciting proposals for the N--MORA TAHOMA WOODS FIBER OPTIC INSTALL project. This Total Small Business Set-Aside opportunity involves the installation of an underground single-mode fiber optic network within the Tahoma Woods government housing area of Mount Rainier National Park. The project aims to establish a passive FTTx feeder/distribution network to support a future Active Optical Network. Proposals are due by April 2, 2026, at 3 PM PT.
Scope of Work
The project requires the engineering, furnishing, installation, and testing (EFI&T) of a fiber optic system, excluding active electronics. Key tasks include:
- Outside Plant (OSP) Infrastructure: Procuring and installing a minimum 120-strand (144-fiber alternately acceptable) single-mode fiber optic feeder cable through existing and new conduit systems. This includes installing six subsurface vaults for mid-span access and splicing, ensuring minimum slack storage.
- Inside Plant (ISP) & Terminal Equipment: Installing a 120-port LC high-density rackmount Optical Distribution Frame (ODF) in the Administration Building server room.
- Building Entrances: Installing PVC building entrance conduit and 12-strand SMFO riser/lateral cable for apartment buildings (terminating in patch panels), and 6-fiber cable with fiber demarcation boxes (NIDs) for single-family homes/trailer pads.
- Future Wireless Access Point (WAP) Preparation: Installing conduit and Ethernet cabling (Cat6A or standard Cat6) to predetermined WAP locations on apartment building verandas. Patch panels for Ethernet will be in existing wall-mount cabinets in storage rooms.
- Testing & Deliverables: Performing end-to-end Tier 1 and Tier 2 testing on all installed fiber strands. Submitting As-Built drawings, OTDR trace reports, and a final fiber termination map.
- Asphalt Work: Additional requirements for construction and asphalt application in Section 3.6 of the SOW.
