Special Requirements & Notes

Contractors must be certified to apply weed and vegetation control measures and possess a commercial applicator's license for New Mexico. Chemicals must be approved by Reclamation, with biobased herbicides preferred. A safety hazard analysis and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are required 5 days prior to chemical application. Specific application techniques, including buffer zones around sensitive areas (e.g., osprey nests), must be followed. Coordination with the Navajo Dam Maintenance Supervisor and COR is required for activities impacting cultural resources. Reporting after each treatment period is mandatory. A Safety Plan must be furnished within 20 days of contract award. The contractor is responsible for all supplies, materials, and equipment.
