Quick Summary

Work also includes maintaining, extending, repairing, installing, and/or removing culverts; reconditioning ditch lines; clearing roadside vegetation; and installing new sign systems. The base contract covers applying a 3" asphalt layer over a 4" aggregate base for the segment from milepost 0.69 to 9.47. Optional items, funded if available, include adding a 4" aggregate surface course for the remaining 9.34 miles, applying a dust palliative, and applying a fog seal followed by a single penetration chip seal.

Key Requirements & Considerations
Work must conform to "Standard Specifications for Construction of Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects, FP-14" and Forest Service Supplemental Specifications (FSSS). The contractor is responsible for furnishing all materials, equipment, labor, transportation, and supplies. Key requirements include developing a Traffic Control Plan (TCP) compliant with MUTCD, maintaining one lane open for emergency access, and managing full road closures (Mon-Fri, 6 AM-6 PM, with potential full-day Tue/Wed for paving). The contractor must locate and secure their own water source and coordinate with Catron County regarding their scheduled roadway project on NM State Highway 435. Davis Bacon wages apply. Clarifications from the Q&A include that NFSR 94 is an alternate route, Average Daily Traffic (ADT) is approximately 70, winter work is permitted if quality is maintained, and the project is tax-exempt with no permitting required.
