Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To establish a contract for the removal of hazardous and potentially hazardous trees and limbs along General Logan and General Howard Civil War earthworks at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park (KEMO), Kennesaw, GA. This also includes removing trees and large limbs that have fallen across the earthworks.

• Removal of approximately 393 hazardous trees with diameters at breast height (DBH) ranging from 16 to 40 inches, and hazardous limb removal as directed by the National Park Service (NPS).

• NPS will mark all trees prior to removal; unmarked trees are not to be removed.

• Work includes felling trees, limbing, chipping and/or hauling debris away from park boundaries, roads, parking lots, and trails.

• Tree stumps must be cut at ground level.

• Special care must be taken to avoid damage to historic earthworks. No vehicles or machinery are permitted on or near the earthworks.

• The contractor must coordinate with the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and park interpretive staff before operations begin in any new area.

• Trees will be removed and debris chipped and/or spread as ordered by the NPS.

• Worksite should show little indication of removal after completion.

• Stumps will be cut at ground level.

• Period of Performance: 10 to 12 months, from mid-2026 to mid-2027.

• Work will be ordered as needed, approximately once per month.

• Project Site: Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, 900 Kennesaw Mountain Drive, Kennesaw, GA, 30152.

• Contractor must have a Certified Arborist ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) on staff or equivalent, with three or more years of full-time, eligible, practical work experience.

• Bidders are highly recommended to visit the worksite.

• Contractor must comply with OSHA, EPA, state, and local safety laws.

• Equipment must be in good and safe working condition.

• A daily safety briefing is required.

• Contractor must provide traffic flaggers and traffic control measures.

• Insurance: Workers Compensation and Liability insurance are required.

• Hauling restrictions apply to National Park Service roads, including gross vehicle weight limits and speed restrictions.

• Contractor must maintain entrance roads and parking lots open for public use.
