The Government will reinstall these systems and refill the tank after the work is completed and accepted.

• Submittals: Government approval is required for submittals classified with "G" or "S".

• Access: Contractor personnel will require DBIDS credentials for installation access.

• Safety: Compliance with EM 385-1-1 and other applicable safety regulations is mandatory.

Amendment / Modification

This amendment revises several aspects of the project, primarily related to the tank maintenance and repair:

• Pit Welding and Pit Filling: Clarifies that after initial cleaning, pitting at least 1/4 of the steel thickness should be welded. Pitting with rough edges that would affect coating should be filled with a solventless epoxy seam sealer.

• Drainage Responsibility: The Government will drain the tank. However, the contractor is responsible for removing any remaining water approximately 4 inches above the tank floor.

• Cathodic Protection System Testing: The contractor is now responsible for testing the cathodic protection system before and after the work, in accordance with NACE SP0193-2016. If the system is found to be not working properly, the contractor must inform the Government and, if necessary, fix the system.

• Roof Vent Replacement: The contractor shall replace the existing roof vent with a clog-resistant vent meeting AWWA D100-11 Sec 7.5 specifications.

• Overflow Pipe Replacement: The existing stub overflow pipe is too small and must be replaced with a new pipe in accordance with AWWA D100-11 Sec 7.3 specifications.

• Anode Storage: The contractor is responsible for storing the anodes during painting. Any damage to anodes during removal, storage, or installation will be the contractor's responsibility to replace.

• Specification Deletions/Additions: Note 3 in the Project Description (Section 01 11 00) regarding government responsibility for draining, removing the cathodic protection system, and reinstalling these components has been deleted and replaced with new contractor responsibilities for testing and potential repair of the cathodic protection system, and contractor removal of residual water.
