Questions & Answers / Clarifications

This document provides answers to vendor questions regarding the "Additional Basket Q & A" for an unspecified opportunity, clarifying technical specifications and requirements.

• Ramp Angle & Loading: Ramps will be angled between 18° and 22° for loading and unloading wheeled equipment from one end to the opposite. The gap between the platform and support on the landing will vary depending on whether the basket is on its wheels in the storage yard or on the river wall.
• Load Capacity: No single unit of equipment will constitute the full 28,000 lbs capacity. The casters must support the basket weight plus the rated load capacity (52,000 lbs total for casters), and the basket itself must have a safety factor of 5 on its load capacity. Both ramps need to be rated for 28,000 lbs.
• Guardrail: No issues with guardrail sections that include full-length vertical posts.
• Pin Locator System: The platform lowering onto vertically oriented pins from a horizontal concrete deck is accurate. A drawing for the lifting beam pin locator system is available in a revised attachment.
