Quick Summary
The Department of the Air Force, specifically the Air Force Test Center (AFTC/PZI) at Arnold Air Force Base (AFB) in Tennessee, is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify qualified vendors. The focus is on aluminide treatments for Nickel-Chromium Alloy 230 substrates used in aerospace components, requiring resistance to high-temperature oxidation (reaching or exceeding 2000°F). Responses are due by June 12, 2026, at 4:00 PM Central Time (CT).
Scope of Work
The Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) requires aluminide treatments, such as pack-cementation or Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD), for Nickel-Chromium Alloy 230 substrates. The treatments must be capable of withstanding high-temperature oxidation at or above 2000°F. Other methodologies may also be considered.
Primary requirements include:
- Straightener Mesh: Aluminide treatments for nickel-chromium Alloy 230 wire mesh, approximately 0.100 inches in wire diameter and 1 foot in cross-sectional diameter, directly exposed to dry air flow. Adhesion must be comparable to the substrate's strength.
- Liners: Aluminide treatments for welded, thin-walled nickel-chromium Alloy 230 flow liners, 2-5 feet long and 1-2.5 feet in diameter, directly exposed to dry air flow. Adhesion must be comparable to the substrate's strength.
