Quick Summary

The U.S. Army Capability Program Executive (CPE) Defensive Fires has issued a Request for Information (RFI) for Low-Cost Interceptors. This RFI seeks to identify existing capabilities for All-Up Rounds (AURs) and low-cost components (seeker, solid rocket motor, fire control) to supplement Integrated Fires Air and Missile Defense missions against Air Breathing Threats (ABT), Cruise Missiles, Close-Range Ballistic Missiles (CRBM), and Short-Range Ballistic Missiles (SRBM). The government is also interested in Weapon System Integrators (WSIs) utilizing a Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA). Responses are due May 29, 2026.

Scope of Work

The RFI addresses five distinct problem statements, with respondents able to address one or multiple:

  • Problem Statement #1: Low-Cost Interceptor AUR and Fire Control (AUR cost < $1M, TRL 6+)
  • Problem Statement #2: Low-Cost Rocket Motor (component cost < $250K, TRL 4+)
  • Problem Statement #3: Low-Cost Seeker (component cost < $250K, TRL 4+)
  • Problem Statement #4: Fire Control and Flight Guidance Implementation (component cost < $250K, TRL 4+)
  • Problem Statement #5: Weapon Systems Integrator (final AUR cost < $1M, high IRL)

Solutions should be mature enough for demonstrations in 4QFY26 and integrate with the M903 launch station and Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) where applicable.

Contract & Timeline

  • Type: Request for Information (RFI) / Special Notice (Market Research)
  • Set-Aside: None specified
  • Response Due: May 29, 2026, 5:00 PM CST
  • Published: May 15, 2026

Evaluation

Responses will inform the government's acquisition strategy, statement of work, and performance specifications. The government will assess existing capabilities, technology/integration readiness levels (TRL/IRL), and adherence to strict cost thresholds. Information gathered may lead to a future Industry Day and prize competitions for Problem Statements 1-4.

Additional Notes

This RFI is for market research only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to award a contract. Proprietary information should be clearly marked. Responses should be submitted electronically to usarmy.redstone.pae-fires.list.open-solicitations@army.mil, with a separate response for each problem statement addressed.
