Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The Army Contracting Command – Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG), Tobyhanna Division, intends to award a sole source contract to Molrix LLC for Robotic Wire Harness Manufacturing Machines. This requirement is for the lease of one Prototype/Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) machine and one Full Rate Production machine, along with necessary documentation, operating software, and engineering services. This is a Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Contract, not a solicitation for competitive quotes. However, other interested parties may submit capability statements for consideration. Statements are due by March 20, 2026, 12:00 p.m. EST.
Scope of Work
The requirement includes leasing two distinct robotic wire harness manufacturing machines:
Prototype/Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) Machine:
- Robotic Capabilities: Power and data wire disposition (insulated, stranded, bare, coated, twisted pair, coax, shielded), terminations (IDC, crimp, poke home, splice), and protection (adhesives, potting, tape, films, clips).
- Mechanical Parameters: Dimensions 2.3m (L) x 2.2m (D) x 2.3m (H), Weight 2000 kg, specific axis position and velocity limits, and standard 3 (option for 10) tool change positions.
- Environmental Parameters: Operating temperature +10°C to +35°C, ambient humidity 5% to 85%.
- Electrical Parameters: 240V, 32A max current, 50-60 Hz, single phase.
- Pneumatic Parameters: 700 kPa nominal operating pressure, G3/8 input thread, integrated filtration.
Full Rate Production Machine:
- Robotic Capabilities: Identical to the LRIP machine (power/data wire disposition, terminations, protection).
- Mechanical Parameters: Dimensions 5.2m (L) x 3.0m (D) x 3.1m (H), Weight 6000 kg, specific axis position and velocity limits, and standard 3 (option for 10) tool change positions.
- Environmental Parameters: Identical to the LRIP machine.
- Electrical Parameters: 400V, 32A max current, 50-60 Hz, 3 phase.
- Pneumatic Parameters: Identical to the LRIP machine.
Both machines require Documentation (Operators, Maintenance, Installation Manuals, Training Material), Software (compatible CAD/CAM with post processor), and Engineering Services (operator/engineering training, advanced production training, application engineers, field support, and support for end effector development).
