Quality & Compliance

Contractors must provide and maintain a quality system in accordance with ISO-9001 (with ISO-10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025) or an acceptable alternate (MIL-I-45208 with MIL-STD-45662). Traceability and Certification: Material must have unique traceability (number, heat-lot, or heat-treat) to chemical composition and mechanical properties. Certification data, including quantitative chemical and mechanical properties, must be submitted to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard via WAWF (Ship to N50286, Inspect/Accept by N39040) for review and acceptance prior to each shipment. No material is to be shipped before acceptance. Configuration Control: Waivers, deviations, and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) require Government approval. Other Requirements: Mercury-free materials, MIL-STD 2073 packaging, and Government Quality Assurance at destination.
