Quick Summary
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to award a sole source service maintenance contract to Gatan Inc. for an existing Gatan EDAX Apex Pegasus microanalysis system on a Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS) FEI Helios 660 microscope. This is a Special Notice under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), not a request for competitive quotations. Responses from other interested parties will be considered to determine if a competitive procurement is feasible. Responses are due June 18, 2026, 8:00 am ET.
Scope of Work
This contract covers an annual service maintenance agreement for the Gatan EDAX Apex Pegasus integrated microanalysis system (S/N 10929), including its Octane Plus X-ray detector (S/N 4047) and Hikari Pro electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) detector (S/N 3218). This system is currently installed on NIST's existing Thermo Fisher Scientific (TFS) FEI Helios 660 focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (FIB SEM) (NIST Property # 637285).
The equipment is critical for the Materials Measurement Science Division (MMSD) of the Material Measurement Laboratory (MML) at NIST, supporting nanometrology and high-resolution microanalysis method development projects.
