Purpose
USACE-MVK requires two Sigma-1 Automated Loading Systems for one-dimensional consolidation testing of soil samples and additional laboratory equipment to perform triaxial strength testing on 3-inch diameter specimens for the MVK lab.
Scope of Work
The required equipment includes:
- Sigma-1 Automated Loading System: Two systems, each comprising a Sigma-1 5K lbs load frame, 5000 lb, 2000 lb, and 500 lb capacity load cells, an incremental consolidation cell for 4" specimens, and a 3 in. deformation sensor.
- Additional Laboratory Equipment for Triaxial Strength Testing: Three 3 in. Q(UU) triaxial cells with accessories, three 3 in. CU/perm endcaps-sets, six 3 in. porous stones, six 3 in. O-rings, one 3 in. membrane expander, and two 3 in. x 025 latex membranes.

Additional Information
The Geotechnical Branch will be responsible for the installation of the Goejac systems. Delivery of items is to 4155 Clay Street, Vicksburg, MS 39183. A 90-day International warranty is required on all items. Invoices are to be emailed to CEFC-B4Invoices@usace.army.mil and anna.k.turner@usace.army.mil. Contractors must consider Corps of Engineers Sustainability requirements, including the use of EPA-designated products and USDA BioPreferred Program materials.
