Request for Information (RFI)

This RFI is issued by Tobyhanna Army Depot (TYAD) for market research to identify U.S.-based companies capable of manufacturing and supplying commercial-grade motor bearings for small uncrewed aircraft systems (sUAS). This is for informational purposes only and is not a solicitation for proposals.

TYAD is seeking domestic sources for the following bearings or suitable equivalents:

• MR616-2RS: 6mm ID, 16mm OD, 5mm Thickness (for motors larger than 31mm)
• MR126-2RS: 6mm ID, 12mm OD, 4mm Thickness (for motors 28 - 31mm)
• MR105-2RS: 5mm ID, 10mm OD, 4mm Thickness (for motors 24 - 27mm)

All bearing materials must not be sourced from the People’s Republic of China, the Russian Federation, the Islamic Republic of Iran, or the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Products must comply with the Berry Amendment (10 U.S.C. 2533a) and DFARS 252.225-7008/7009 regarding specialty metals. Respondents must demonstrate capability to meet these domestic sourcing requirements.

Interested businesses should submit a capabilities statement (max 10 pages, 10pt font, bullet format) demonstrating their ability to provide the required products. Include:

1. Organization name, address, POCs, contact information, and ownership type.
2. Tailored capability statements with supporting documentation.
3. Details on any anticipated subcontracting or teaming arrangements.

Responses must be submitted electronically to corey.d.katsak.civ@army.mil & steven.wiltz.civ@army.mil no later than 12:00 p.m. EDT on March 30, 2026. Reference the synopsis number in the email subject line. Do not submit classified material. All submitted data marked as proprietary will be protected.

This RFI is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment to award a contract.

TYAD is seeking domestic sources for the following bearings or suitable equivalents:

• Part Number: 625-2RS

  • Dimensions: 6mm ID, 16mm OD, 5mm Thickness
  • Application: Motors larger than 31mm

• Part Number: MR126-2RS

  • Dimensions: 6mm ID, 12mm OD, 4mm Thickness
  • Application: Motors 28mm - 31mm

• Part Number: MR105-2RS

  • Dimensions: 5mm ID, 10mm OD, 4mm Thickness
  • Application: Motors 24mm - 27mm

• Domestic Sourcing: All bearing materials must not be sourced from China, Russia, Iran, or North Korea.

• Specialty Metals: Products must comply with the Berry Amendment (10 U.S.C. 2533a) and DFARS 252.225-7008/7009 regarding specialty metals. Respondents must demonstrate capability to comply.

• Classification: Any future contract will be Unclassified.

• Format: Submit a brief capabilities statement (max 10 pages, 10-point font minimum) in Microsoft Word or PDF format.

• Content: Include organization name, address, POCs, contact information, ownership type, and tailored capability statements with supporting documentation. Address any anticipated subcontracting or teaming arrangements.

• Deadline: Submit via email to corey.d.katsak.civ@army.mil & steven.wiltz.civ@army.mil no later than 10:00 a.m. EDT on March 25, 2026.

• Subject Line: Reference the synopsis number in the email subject line and on all documents.

• Confidentiality: Data marked as proprietary will be protected. Do not submit classified material.

This RFI is for informational and market research purposes only. Responses are voluntary, and no contract will be awarded based on this RFI. No funds are available to pay for response preparation.
