Qualification Details

Fit reasons
  • NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
  • Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
  • Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
  • Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps

Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.

Quick Summary

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is conducting a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) to identify capable vendors for one Electro-Magnetic Gradiometer Sensing System Hardware (EMG-SSH) device. This market research aims to assess industry capabilities for a system sensitive between 50kHz-750kHz, capable of picotesla range measurements to detect and map long linear subsurface conductors. Responses are due by June 12, 2026, 12:00 PM CST.

Scope of Requirement

The required EMG-SSH device must include:

  • A rugged, lightweight, man-carry boom (disassemblable, backpack-attachable, weight-balanced).
  • Differential EMG receiver electronics (sealed, programmable 50kHz-750kHz, 10Hz accuracy, min. two channels).
  • Matched electrically shielded Magnetic Dipole Antenna pairs.
  • A small tablet computer for data acquisition and display.
  • A mobile GPS navigation receiver (sub 20cm accuracy).
  • A rugged or semi-rugged laptop (corei7, 16GB RAM, 250GB HD).
  • The system must detect secondary fields from long conductors (>100m) and be sensitive to picotesla range fields.
  • Software is required for frequency setup, data collection, real-time display, system status alerts, and merging GPS with EM data, outputting in CSV format.
  • Deliverables include the full system, design drawings, operation manuals, software manual, and in-person training.
  • Total system weight should not exceed 30 lbs. Delivery is FOB Destination to ERDC, Vicksburg, MS, within 6 months of award.

Information Requested from Vendors

Interested organizations must provide:

  1. Contact Information: Company name, address, POC, phone, email, CAGE, Primary NAICS, Business Size (Large/Small, category), SAM registration, and webpage.
  2. Answers to Three Questions: Regarding capability to fabricate instrumentation, develop software, and obtain peripheral components as described in the DRAFT Description of Requirement (DOR).
  3. Capabilities Statement: Detailing experience in fabricating/providing the required capabilities and with radio frequency electromagnetic sensing systems in subsurface characterization. Previous procurement information is recommended.
  4. Business Status: Socio-economic factors (e.g., 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB, SDB).

Contract & Timeline

  • Opportunity Type: Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI)
  • NAICS Code: 334519, Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing (Small Business Size Standard: 600 employees)
  • Set-Aside: None specified (market research)
  • Response Due: June 12, 2026, 12:00 PM CST
  • Published: June 9, 2026
  • Contact: Janalyn Dement (Janalyn.H.Dement@usace.army.mil)

Evaluation

Responses will assist ERDC in determining potential interest, adequate competition, market availability, and technical capabilities within the large and small business community.

Additional Notes
