Qualification Details

Fit reasons
  • NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
  • Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks

Quick Summary

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) is conducting a Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI) to identify vendors capable of providing one Electro-Magnetic Gradiometer Sensing System Hardware (EMG-SSH) device. This device is required for detecting and mapping long linear subsurface conductors. Responses are due by June 12, 2026, 12:00 PM CST.

Scope of Work

The EMG-SSH device must be sensitive between 50kHz-750kHz and capable of making measurements in the picotesla range. Key components include a rugged, lightweight man-carry boom (disassemblable, <30 lbs total system weight), differential EMG receiver electronics, matched electrically shielded Magnetic Dipole Antenna pairs, a small tablet computer, a mobile GPS navigation receiver (sub 20cm accuracy), and a rugged or semi-rugged laptop. The system requires software for frequency setup, data collection, real-time display, and merging GPS and EM data. Deliverables include the full system, system design drawings, assembly/disassembly manuals, operation manuals, software manuals, and in-person training. The device will be tested by government personnel for 100% specification compliance.

Contract & Timeline

  • Type: Sources Sought / Request for Information (RFI)
  • NAICS: 334519, Other Measuring and Controlling Device Manufacturing
  • Small Business Size Standard: 600 employees
  • Set-Aside: None specified for this RFI (market research stage)
  • Response Due: June 12, 2026, 12:00 PM Central Standard Time (CST)
  • Published: June 15, 2026
  • Delivery (if future contract awarded): Within 6 months after award, FOB Destination, to Engineer Research and Development Center, Vicksburg, MS.

Evaluation

This RFI is for market research purposes only to assess vendor availability, interest, competition, and technical capabilities within the Large and Small Business Community. Responses are not offers and will not lead to a direct contract award. Information will be used to determine how to proceed with a future acquisition.

Additional Notes

Interested vendors must provide company contact information, answers to three specific questions regarding fabrication, software development, and peripheral component provision, a capabilities statement, and business status (e.g., 8(a), HUBZone, SDVOSB). The EMG-SSH device is intended to supplement or replace existing legacy systems, and technical documentation for these legacy systems may be made available to assist future contractors. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future Request for Quote (RFQ).
