Opportunity Overview
The University of California, on behalf of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), has issued Request for Proposal (RFP) No. MG-05212026 for the production of 910 custom Storage Ring (SR) Direct Current Transducers (DCCT) Modules (Model: DCCT-BPC-2CH). These modules are critical for the Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) Power Supply system. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS Code 334418 (Printed Circuit Assembly (Electronic Assembly) Manufacturing) with a 750-employee size standard.
Scope of Work
The selected subcontractor will be responsible for the manufacture, assembly, and delivery of 910 DCCT Modules, which include 10 spares. Deliveries will be made in seven batches, with specific dates ranging from September 11, 2026, to February 28, 2027. LBNL will furnish 1,820 Current Coils (P/N DX200IH-CP01) for incorporation into the modules.
Key requirements include:
- Adherence to IPC 610 Class 2 standards for materials and lead solder for component-to-printed circuit board soldering.
- Individual packaging using ESD-compliant material and proper serialization.
- Maintaining an ISO 9001 compliant quality system.
- Following LBNL procedures for documentation, quality assurance, and acceptance, utilizing the "ALS-U SR DCCT-Module ACL" (AL-1876-8204A) for verification.
- Providing a detailed program plan within two weeks of award, including a milestone schedule, monthly reports, and bi-weekly teleconferences.
- Transmitting all documentation electronically via a Windchill Project portal.
Detailed engineering drawings and parts lists for components like the DCCT Module Enclosure (AL-1752-7143B) and Dual Current Transducer sub-assembly (AL-1752-7178B) are available.
Contract Details
The resulting award will be a fixed-price subcontract under the University's Prime Contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The place of performance is Berkeley, CA, with shipping FOB Destination, Freight Prepaid and Add to Brookhaven National Laboratory. The General Provisions for Commercial Supplies and Services (dated 12/12/25) outline terms, conditions, and compliance requirements, including sustainability and environmental standards.
