The contractor will conduct Super Typhoon Sinlaku Impact Assessments (SIA) to build upon previous nearshore assessments. Key tasks include:
- Surveying an estimated 10 priority sites within the Saipan Lagoon and 15 sites adjacent to beaches and reef flats off Saipan and Tinian.
- Developing methods and a comprehensive survey design.
- Identifying and ranking priority sites based on safety, availability, capacity, and potential contribution to future management.
- Performing field surveys (snorkel and/or SCUBA) to collect quantitative data on marine debris, damage to coral communities, and storm impacts.
- Performing coral stabilization at a minimum of 5 top-priority sites.
- Analyzing collected data and producing a final report integrating findings.
Deliverables encompass project team development, site selection and prioritization, permitting and environmental compliance, field survey strategy and logistics, data entry and QA/QC, near real-time data sharing, marine debris rankings, coral stabilization and restoration potential rankings, site-based management recommendations, and coral stabilization at priority sites.
