Key Requirements
- Specifications: MIL-T-1368, Class A, with specific size and length parameters. Tubing is not intended for silver brazing.
- Quality System: Must comply with ISO-9001 (amplified/modified) with ISO-10012 or ANSI-Z540.3 with ISO-17025. MIL-I-45208 with MIL-STD-45662 is an acceptable alternative.
- Testing & Certification: Required for Quality Conformance/Compliance Inspection (hydrostatic pressure test per MIL-T-1368 for 5 minutes). Chemical and mechanical certifications per DI-MISC-81020. A Certificate of Compliance for seamless tubing/pipe is mandatory.
- Traceability & Marking: Strict traceability from material to certification test reports is required, using unique numbers (heat-lot, heat-treat). Permanent marking per MIL-STD-792 and temporary marking per SAE-AMS-2806, SAE-AMS-2807, SAE-AMS-2809, SAE-AMS-STD-185, or ASTM-B666. Electric arc or impression marking is prohibited on thin-wall tubing.
- Inspections: Detailed contractor, subcontractor, receiving, and final inspections are required, with 100% inspection for traceability markings and certification data.
- Mercury Free: Material must be free of mercury and mercury-containing compounds.
- Waivers/Deviations/ECPs: Specific procedures for submission and approval via the ECDS (Electronic Contractor Data Submission) system.
