Scope of Work
The project involves the maintenance and repair of refuge boundary fencing. Key tasks include:
- Fence Re-Build: Approximately 1.5 miles of fence requiring more than 15% post replacement, removal of all strands, and replacement with new wire.
- Fence Repair: Approximately 3.5 miles of fence requiring less than 15% post replacement, removal of more than 3 strands, and replacement of top/bottom strands with smooth wire.
- Construction of a 3-strand wildlife-friendly barbed/smooth-wire fence with metal T-posts (maximum 16 ft apart).
- Corner posts to be wood or steel pipe.
- Repair of existing wire gates; no new gates will be added.
- USFWS will provide wildlife-safe fence designs.
- Contractor is responsible for the disposal of all old fencing materials.
- Wire specifications: ASTM A 121 compliant, 12.5-gauge minimum high tensile wire (barbed and smooth), with a 20-year supplier warranty.
- Post specifications: Pressure-treated wood (UC4C) or steel T-posts (painted green or galvanized).

Submission & Evaluation
