Scope of Work
The selected contractor will provide comprehensive veterinary medical care for the WFRC's aquatic laboratory animal program. Key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring the health status of aquatic animals, including routine checks of water quality, animal care data, and mortality logs, with a minimum of four hours per month at the Seattle duty station.
- Serving as a voting member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), attending meetings, assisting with procedures, and conducting facility inspections.
- Conducting annual facility site inspections at both the Seattle main laboratory and the Marrowstone Marine Field Station in Nordland, WA.
- Assisting in the development and review of aquatic animal-specific standard operating procedures and policies, and providing staff training as needed.
- The position requires one individual to cover both Seattle and Nordland locations and is not a full-time employee.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
Offerors must possess a DVM or equivalent degree and be eligible for state licensure. A minimum of five years of experience in aquatic animal veterinary medicine, preferably with salmonid health, is required, along with the ability to conduct diagnostic work independently.
