Statement of Work (SOW) / Performance Work Statement (PWS)

To provide contractor support for washing, preparing, and conducting initial geochemical analyses on cuttings from the East Mikkelsen Bay 1 exploration well for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Geology, Energy, and Minerals Science Center (GEMSC).

• Receive and organize 248 cuttings samples.

• Wash all samples using water and soap solution.

• Clean samples using organic solvents to remove drilling mud residues or native oil, ensuring they are free of oil-based contaminants and suitable for geochemical analysis.

• Perform Total Organic Carbon (TOC) measurements on approximately 30 pilot samples using a carbon analyzer.

• Analyze carbon isotopic composition (δ¹³C, VPDB) on the same subset of samples using an isotope ratio mass spectrometer equipped with an elemental analyzer.

• Optional: Record sample mass at intake and after washing if agreed upon.

• Cleaned, contamination-free cuttings samples.

• TOC and carbon isotope results for approximately 30 pilot samples.

• QA/QC documentation (including reference and duplicate analyses).
