Fit reasons
- NAICS alignment with historical contract wins in similar service areas.
- Scope strongly matches core technical capabilities and delivery model.
Risks
- Past performance thresholds may require one additional teaming partner.
- Potential clarification needed on staffing minimums before bid/no-bid.
Next steps
Validate eligibility requirements, assign capture owner, and schedule partner outreach to confirm teaming strategy before submission planning.
Quick Summary
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is soliciting quotes for an X-ray detector for Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) of metallic Additive Manufacturing (AM) builds for automated inspection. This is a Total Small Business Set-Aside and a Brand Name or Equivalent requirement. Quotes are due by April 2, 2026, at 7 a.m. CT.
Scope of Work
NASA requires a complete, fully operational digital flat panel X-ray detector system, including all necessary hardware, software, cables, and accessories. The system will be used for radiographic inspections of aluminum components and structures. Key technical requirements include:
- Detector Hardware: Pixel pitch ≤ 83 µm, Active Area Minimum 5.0" x 3.35", 16-bit image output, X-Ray Energy Compatibility 30 kV to 150 kV. The detector area should not exceed 6" in diameter, with a 6" diameter preferred (e.g., 5x6" is better than 1x6").
- Software: Acquisition software for digital radiography is required. It must support remote triggering and be compatible with Windows 10 or later. If free and approved for Federal Government use, it can be assumed; otherwise, it must be included in the offer.
- Integration & Usage: The detector does not need to be integrated with an existing x-ray source and must be remotely triggerable. It will be mounted externally to a vacuum chamber, with x-rays transmitted through a window, not for field inspection or within an enclosure.
- Deliverables: One digital flat panel X-ray detector, compatible power supply, licensed image acquisition software, SDK (if available), user manual, interface cables, and certificate of conformance.
