Scope of Work

The project requires the removal of the existing freezer door, jambs, headers, and threshold, followed by the repair of walls, floor, and ceiling. A new 72" x 61-1/2" panel, 4-inch thick freezer door with insulation, outside and inside diamond plate finish, and specific hardware (self-closing, spring-loaded hinges, cylinder lock, safety-release handle) must be installed. The new door must include anti-condensing strip heaters, a waterproof thermometer, and resilient gaskets compliant with NSF/ANSI standards. Strip curtains are also required. Compliance with ASTM E84, NSF ANSI 2 & 7, and UL 207 & 723 is mandatory.

Special Requirements

Contractors must arrange access and scheduling through the Contracting Officer's Representative and the building tenant (Terry Castleberry, 910-451-6270). Field measurements are the contractor's responsibility. Disposal of asbestos-containing materials and lead-painted building products must be done at the Camp Lejeune sanitary landfill by appointment, with all other contractor-generated material weighed at the base landfill. A written permit and fire watch are required for "hot work." Required submittals include shop drawings, installation drawings, product data, a 10-year commercial limited warranty, and as-built drawings in AutoCAD and Adobe PDF. The fabricator and installer must have a minimum of three years documented experience, and the installer must be certified by the door manufacturer.

Contract Details

This is a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation with an estimated cost range of $25,000 to $100,000. The contract completion time is 180 days after award, with liquidated damages set at $220 per calendar day. Proposals less than $40,000 require no bonds; proposals $40,000 and greater require a payment bond; and proposals $150,000 and greater require a bid bond, payment bond, and performance bond.
