Quick Summary
The USDA Forest Service has issued a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a Total Small Business Set-Aside contract to provide vegetation reduction (mulching/grinding/masticating/chipping) services on the Conecuh National Forest in Andalusia, Alabama. This project aims to restore longleaf pine forests, reduce fuel loads, and mitigate wildfire threats. Quotes are due by May 7, 2026.
Scope of Work
The contractor will be responsible for mechanically treating shrubs, brush, saplings, and trees less than 12 inches in Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) within specified project areas. Residues from mulching may be left onsite, and stumps must be reduced to no greater than 4 inches tall. A key performance standard involves minimizing damage to longleaf pine trees, with penalties applied for damage exceeding 10%. The government will not supervise service providers directly; accountability rests solely with the contractor. Work areas are detailed in Attachment 3 (Map).
