Scope of Work
Contractors will be responsible for providing and maintaining an Off-Range Corral facility and comprehensive care for 120–400 Wild Horses and Burros annually. Key services include:
- Animal Care: Unloading, sorting, restraining, and providing feed (good/premium quality grass/alfalfa hay), salt, minerals, and water.
- Condition Maintenance: Maintaining animals in moderate condition (Henneke score 5-7).
- Facilities: Providing adequate, clean, and dry corrals (minimum 700 sq ft per animal for holding, 400 sq ft for separate corrals) with covered working areas.
- Health Care: Furnishing veterinary services including vaccinations, deworming, EIA tests, and emergency treatment (not to exceed $350/year per animal). A veterinarian must be on call within 4 hours.
- Hoof Trimming: Performing hoof trims as needed.
- Carcass Disposal: Disposing of carcasses in accordance with state laws.
- Security: Ensuring locked gates during non-work hours and fenced facilities.
- Reporting: Submitting daily feed/care logs, incident reports within 24 hours, and transportation notifications 72 hours prior to animal movement.
