• Logging Contract Overlap: The Richmond Sale is active until October 2028. Timber work in the campground is restricted to September 15th through May 21st in 2026, 2027, or 2028, avoiding overlap with campground operating periods. While most of the water system pipe replacement could occur simultaneously with timber work, it would be difficult to do simultaneously.
• Material Removal: Suitable firewood material and burnable material may be left on site in neat piles. Unburnable material, including root balls and tree trunks, shall be removed. The Forest Service will designate a waste area within ten miles. Stump disposal may require burial on National Forest lands.
• Fusion Methods: Socket fusion is an acceptable method, in addition to compression and butt fusion, as specified in Section 2.4.A.
• Backfill: Native backfill is acceptable if it meets specification requirements. Any bedding material meeting specifications is also acceptable.
• Topsoil: Salvaging existing topsoil is acceptable; it can be put back after work is completed.
• RV Host Sites: These sites are available for use when the host is not occupying them, even if the campground is closed during the normal operating season.
• Campground Closure: Contractors can close camping loops starting August 1st for construction. For closures in 2027 or 2028, notification to the Forest Service is required before March 1st. No special closure is needed during the seasonal closure (approximately Labor Day to Memorial Day).
