Quick Summary
The National Park Service (NPS), John Muir National Historic Site (JOMU), has issued a Pre-Solicitation Announcement (RFP No. 140P8526Q0053) for the replacement of a damaged fiber optic line. This project involves the demolition of existing fiber infrastructure and the installation, termination, testing, and certification of a new single-mode fiber backbone. This opportunity is a Total Small Business Set-Aside with an estimated magnitude between $25,000 and $100,000. The Government intends to award a single, firm-fixed-price contract.
Scope of Work
The contractor will provide all necessary parts, materials, labor, supervision, management, transportation, and equipment. Key tasks include:
- Maintenance Building IDF Work: Install a Telecommunications Main Ground Busbar (TMGB), bond to grounding system, install a rack-mounted fiber enclosure with a 6-strand OS2 LC connector panel, and install a 2-inch EMT sleeve.
- Adobe Building IDF Work: Install a fire-rated plywood backboard, TMGB, rack-mounted fiber enclosure with a 6-strand OS2 LC connector panel, and a 2-inch EMT sleeve.
- Demolition Work: Remove existing six-strand single-mode fiber cable and two fiber splice enclosures between buildings. Salvaged materials become contractor property.
- Conduit and Pathway Preparation: Rod and rope approximately 1,350 linear feet of existing conduit and seal designated 2-inch conduits.
- Fiber Optic Cabling Installation: Furnish and install one (1) six-strand OS2 indoor/outdoor OFCP-rated single-mode fiber optic cable (approx. 1,500 feet) with service loops and pull string. Terminate all fiber strands with LC connectors and bond cables to grounding busbars.
- Testing and Certification: Perform bi-directional dual-wavelength testing on all six fiber strands and provide electronic test results.
- Patch Cords: Provide and install two (2) OS2 LC-to-LC duplex fiber patch cords.
